So tonight is my 4 month check up at the Dr. Blood work was drawn last Friday, so tonight I get the results. I'm nervous! I track my appts as well as my weight here at home before I go to the Dr and I am up 14#'s since my last visit in May! I was totally shocked, I though it was around 10#'s, but boy was I wrong. Then I looked back and realized that I have lost NOTHING the last 12 months.
Well I did lose actually, but it was that up and down scenario. Lose then gain the lose then gain for 12 months. I could rationalize that I "maintained" for a year, and in reality I did, but my goal is to lose weight until I reach my goal, THEN maintain.
Need to find some kind of happy balance with this weight loss program and get my butt in gear!

Sneak Peak on The Scale
Hopped on the scale this morning after my shower for a sneak peak of how I was doing this week. I am going to wait until my "official" weigh in on Sunday, but I like what I saw! Shows I can do it if I put my mind to it! Helps that I am super busy at work, haven't had many snacks this week and end up exhausted when I get home.
Taking a day off from biking this morning. Needed to pay some bills and catch up on a few emails. Will continue with the exercise tonight when I get home or again tomorrow morning. Actually think I miss it when I don't ride! HUM?????? Am I strange?
Off to start another day at work. Three hours of training this morning on our new computer system which is going live next spring. Sure hope I am not bored! Also hope there is NO food in the training room.

A New Name
Changed the name of my blog over the weekend.
Just needed a change and seeing the new name "Continuing the Journey" makes me realize every day that is it continuing......
I don't think I ever accepted the fact that what I am doing is a lifetime change. I knew that is was "suppose to" be a lifetime change, but again never accepted it. Now I have to work on it big time. I won't be able to eat sweets and carbs like I use to and even maintain my weight. That was obvious the past few months as I gained back almost 10 pounds.
But I am back full force - exercising at least 6 days a week, even if it is only 30 minutes, and eating healthy nutritious foods. It's a start....... on "Continuing the Journey".
Sharing another photo from the bike event this past weekend.

Back on Track

How much fun is a 26 mile bike event when you get to ride through 3 covered bridges? TONS of fun! Here are MF and I traveling through one of the bridges as we competed an event in Thurmont, MD this past weekend.
And the energy I received from this event continues on.....
I am finally hydrated from the weekend. I am Googling sites for planning next years events.....
And I had one full day of clean eating and actually exercised last night on the recumbent as well as at 5:30 AM this morning.
I am "back in the saddle" again!

Focus on Today
While watching my favorite Phillies baseball team this afternoon, the title for my post came about. The Phillies motto this year, "Focus on Today",was mentioned. It was one of those comments I heard while sitting in the family room reading some other blog while taking a break from the laundry and making homemade tomato sauce for the freezer.
It makes more sense to me than, "One Day at a Time", or maybe it is just more defined and thought provoking.
FOCUS ON TODAY
I am a planner and organizer on a daily basis. I like to leave work each day with a clean desk. Most of the time I like the house tidy and neat, even if there is some dust around! So I normally look ahead and PLAN days in advance: from planning for the weekend, to vacations, to my grocery list.
FOCUS ON TODAY
My new motto. It isn't going to be easy but I am determined. I don't want this weight loss journey to fail. I am going to do everything I can to make sure I continue on the journey.
I needed to come up with something......
This weekend I met up with my biking blogger friend Mary Fran for our third 25 mile bike event this year. Didn't train for this one like I did the others, and I could tell when the first hill came upon us. The extra 10#'s I have put on over the last few months didn't help either. More weight to pull up those hills....and trust me they weren't BIG hills compared to the serious mountains the 100 mile route entailed.
Never the less, with my friend ahead of me and encouraging me on, I got through the 25 miles.
I was exhausted on the ride home and slept 11 hours last night. But I feel fantastic today! I have a new found respect for those individuals that completed the 100 mile route, though it is not something that is in my plans for the future.
But next year there are plans for a 50 mile event. It will most likely be on fairly flat terrain since we both have arthritic knees, and those hills can do a number on the knees. Plus we are already looking at events for three other 25 mile rides. There will be training, whether biking or walking regularly to stay in better shape. And finally, the weight will come off.
The journey will continue, focusing on today.....each and every day.
